If you’ve never been to our practice before, you could follow these directions to find us:
- Take Barton Rd west out of town, then go north on Waterman Ave. Get onto the I-10 heading west, then exit immediately onto I-215 to go north. Take exit 43 onto 2nd St. Turn left onto D St, and turn into the first parking lot on your left. We’re right there at 234 N D St.
- If you’d rather avoid the interstates, take Anderson St north out of town. Keep going when it turns into Tippecanoe Ave. Turn left at Mill St, then right at Waterman Ave. Turn left onto 2nd St, then right onto D St, and find us in the building south of the first parking lot on your left.
How Much Local History Do You Know?
Loma Linda’s rich history begins with the Tongva village of Wa’aachnga, known to the Spanish as Rancheria Guachama, and later inhabited by the Cahuilla and Serrano tribes. In the early 1800s, it served as a mission outpost for Mission San Gabriel. By the late 1800s, the area, initially developed as Mound City for tourism, transformed when Los Angeles businessmen and physicians converted the failed Mound City Hotel into a convalescent home and health resort, naming it Loma Linda, which translates to ‘beautiful hill.’
The region gained significant prominence in 1905 when the Seventh-day Adventists purchased the hotel, establishing the Loma Linda Sanitarium and later, Loma Linda University in 1906. Despite facing challenges like the major floods in 1969 and again in 2010, Loma Linda has continued to thrive, officially becoming a city in 1970. Today, Loma Linda is known not just for its scenic beauty but also for its contributions to health and wellness, reflecting its historical roots.
